This is one of the reasons I call social sites dangerous. Am I blaming Facebook for this, not really. It is kind of the same as guns don’t kill people, people kill people scenario. However, it clearly points out how technology can and is being used to perpetrate all kinds of evils up to and including murder. This is why I take such umbrage on Facebook features like “Places”, which essentially gives predators a laser target to your location. Did Facebook kill these teens, no! Will giving out your location on Facebook get you killed? Probably not, but why take the risk? And there might be worse things than being killed!

Once again the “sirens” of technology call to folks only to ensnare and cause great harm up to and including death! Facebook has now succumbed to the latest invasion of privacy and what makes this form of invasion even worse is that the victim is helping the attackers! Ok, I can hear the heavy sighs already, “there he goes again, crying wolf”.
Folks this activity is dangerous! Predators of every ilk hang out on social sites with facebook currently being the most popular! They rub their hands with glee when technology aides them in stalking and tracking their potential victims. Quite frankly, what is the attraction to letting the world know where you are at every moment. It has to be some sort of narcissistic epidemic to think that everyone wants to know where you are located at any given moment. Beyond that, it is down right dangerous.
“Hey predator! Come get me, I’m at the mall all by myself!” Why not instead hang a sign on yourself thats says “I Want To Be Your Next Victim” and just walk through the mall!
Folks, what do I have to say to make people understand. Giving away your location to the entire world is DANGEROUS! DON’T DO IT!

A recent article from the Associated Press (see link below) highlights another aspect of our rapidly degrading culture . On the one hand, so called “free thinkers” would have us believe nudity is harmless and victimless. On the other hand these degenerates that scream “First Ammendment” so loudly are the same folks that turn a blind eye to the real harm, I guess because reality does not reflect the based depravity of their desires.
In this article, a very bleak picture is painted of what happens when teens engage in “harmless” fun with cell phones and nudity. It isn’t so harmless after all! The peer pressure to be “one of the in crowd” doesn’t change. It still has a huge impact on our youth and parents feel more and more helpless every day. The damage is real, the pain is real and the impact is life long. When we ignore that inner voice, that I believe comes from our creator, we may try to call it “harmless fun”, but the consequences are very real and very painful.
Teens, please do not give in to that pressure for your own sake. Parents, you must discuss this issue with your cell phone carrying teens. I know it is not comfortable and you may meet resistance and endure conflict, but that is the culture we live in. We must suffer a little discomfort and conflict now or we will surely face extreme pain later. Sit down with your family and openly discuss and control this issue before it controls you!
